Appointment of Acting Chief Executive

Dr Craig Jones has been appointed Acting Chief Executive, Social Investment Agency.

Craig will take up the position of Acting Chief Executive on 19 June 2024 after Renee Graham finishes her appointed term. He will continue in that role when the Social Wellbeing Agency becomes the Social Investment Agency on 1 July 2024. 

Craig has considerable public sector experience both here and in Australia. This includes working as Deputy Government Statistician and Deputy Chief Executive, Data System Leadership at Statistics New Zealand for four years where he stewarded the Integrated Data Infrastructure. He previously worked as a Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Education where, among other things, he supported the development of the Equity Index. 

Most recently, Craig has been the Chief Advisor at the Social Wellbeing Agency. Craig’s social sector relationships and analytical background will support him to reposition the agency and develops its work programme. 

The Agency acknowledges the significant contribution and leadership Renee has provided over the last three years while she has been Chief Executive.
